SC agrees to review decision on NEET

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has agreed to reconsider its judgment quashing single window common entrance test (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test) for government and private medical colleges.
The apex court on Thursday issued notice over petitions seeking review of its earlier judgment on NEET, which was one of the last to be pronounced by a bench headed by the then CJI Altamas Kabir.
The Centre had sought review of the judgment junking the single-window admission process for all medical colleges.
The Supreme Court had in July quashed the Medical Council of India's (MCI) notification for holding common entance tests for MBBS, BDS and post-graduate medical courses.
A three-judge bench headed by Altmas Kabir held that the MCI notification was ultra vires of the Constitution in a 2:1 verdict .
Justice A R Dave did not agree to the majority verdict by the ex-CJI Altamas Kabir and Justice Vikramajit Sen. The judgment said MCI is not empowered to prescribe all India medical entrance tests.
The bench said that the MCI notification was in violation of Articles 19, 25, 26, 29 and 30 of the Constitution. said he did not share the view of Chief Justice Kabir and Justice Sen.

·        The weightage of MCQ’s in each specialty is indicative and purely provisional. NBE reserves its right to alter/vary/amend the same.

AIPGMEE 2013 for session 2014 Notification Out

Avoid thinking about AIPGMEE exam dates and keep studying

Well it's not a regular post for this portal, but seeing a lot of anxiety among students, we are posting this.
At present the major concern for PG aspirants is the declaration of dates of AIPGMEE. As far as I can see, this issue is causing a lot of distraction among students. But our advice to all PG aspirants is to avoid thinking and stressing about the dates of AIPG exam. It is a sad state of our country that major and important decisions takes a long and twisted path to get finalised, but at this moment (near all major exams) we (doctors and medical students) can do very little to change it.
The notification will be out eventually, and everybody will have to comply by whatever decision is finalized by SC etc. The worst case scenario will be, the exam starting from 26th Nov 2013. But whatever will be finalized wont change by taking tension at this point of time.

What is important now is to prepare for all the upcoming exams as hard as possible. and for that it is important to keep the mind cool and away from anxiety and distractions. So our advice is please stop looking for exam dates every now and then, checking for updates once in the evening is sufficient. Also stop participating in the discussions and rumors about AIPG dates on many popular PG entrance forums, till the official announcement comes, all these speculations posted on some forums are merely distractions and increase anxiety, so stop participating and reading such posts.

Due to the similar reasons, we have stopped posting about all the articles in various NEWS papers speculating about AIPG, because these newspaper article wont solve any purpose. We will post updates only when it is available via some authentic source.

COMEDK PGET-2014 ENTRANCE EXAMINATION 

COMEDK PGET – 2014 Entrance Examination will be conducted on Sunday the 02nd February 2014 for admission to Postgraduate Medical and Dental courses in COMEDK Member Institutions. The Entrance Examination will be conducted in Bangalore City only.

Candidates from all over the country can appear for the Entrance Examination as in previous years.

Details regarding the Entrance Examination will be notified in due course.

Candidates applying from SAARC countries should send Rs.2000/- or its equivalent and those from other foreign countries US dollars 100 or its equivalent.

Money can be remitted by using any one of the following methods:

1. As a challan at no extra cost at any branch of ICICI bank in India. A challan will be generated when filling payment details in the application form. Please mention FC- CMC-V on the challan. (Send the original challan)

2. Demand draft in favour of “C.M.C. Vellore Association a/c” on any Scheduled Bank, payable at Vellore. Keep your demand draft ready before filling the application form. Write your name and application number on the back of the demand draft before dispatching.

THE APPLICATION PROCESS

Application forms can be accessed only online through the Christian Medical College website http://www.admissions.cmcvellore.ac.in from 1/10/2013. Duly filled application forms must be submitted online with a basic administrative fee of Rs.750/- and a registration fee of Rs. 600 per each course before 12 midnight on 8/11/2013. All the supporting documents should reach the Office of Registrar, CMC, Vellore -2 by post on or before 12/11/2013.
