NEET PG 2017 registration started today (CLICK HERE for registration link). And a few different questions are arising into the minds of aspirants specially the first time exam takers. We get a lot of such queries since the inception of Prometric based entrance exam started in 2012. We discussed such queries with experts in the field of entrance exams for the last 14 - 15 years. NEET PG 2017 - Important details

SCOPE OF NEET-PG 2017


NEET-PG 2017 shall be a single eligibility cum entrance examination namely ‘National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for admission to Postgraduate Medical Courses’ for the academic session 2017 which will include the following:

  1. All India 50% quota seats for MD/MS/PG Diploma courses (all states except Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Telangana)
  2. State quota seats for MD/MS/PG Diploma courses for all States/Union territories of India (including the states of Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Telangana)
  3. MD/MS/PG Diploma courses at all Private Medical Colleges, Institutions & Universities/Deemed Universities all across the country
  4. MD/MS/PG Diploma courses at Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions.
  5. DNB Broad specialty courses (January 2017 Admission Session)

The following Medical institutions are not covered by centralized admissions for MD/MS seats through NEET-PG for 2017 session:

  1. AIIMS, New Delhi
  2. PGIMER, Chandigarh
  3. SGPGIMS, Lucknow
  4. JIPMER, Puducherry
  5. NIMHANS, Bengaluru
  6. Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum







No state government /private medical college/universities including the states of Jammu & Kashmir, Telangana & Andhra Pradesh shall be conducting any separate entrance exam for admission to their MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses for the academic session 2017-2018.

 DNB-PDCET is a mandatory eligibility cum ranking examination for entry to various Post Diploma (Secondary) DNB courses.

 NBE shall be conducting DNB-PDCET as a Computer Based Test (CBT) on 29th November, 2016 at Test centers across the country. Post Diploma DNB courses are offered in the following
specialties.

 Anaesthesiology, Dermatology Venereology and Leprosy, Nuclear Medicine, Obstetrics And Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Radio-Diagnosis, Radiotherapy, Tuberculosis & Respiratory Diseases / Pulmonary Medicine, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Pathology and Emergency Medicine.

 Eligibility Criteria for DNB-PDCET– January 2017 Admission Session:

Candidates who have passed the final examination leading to the award of Post Graduate Diploma from Indian Universities which are duly recognized as per provisions of Indian Medical Council Act 1956, Govt.of India i.e. have passed / passing the final examinations for post graduate diploma on or before 31st December 2016. Duration of training of Post Diploma course should be 2 years by 31st December 2016. Candidates who fulfill the aforementioned eligibility criteria may apply for the DNB Post Diploma CET in same broad specialty through online application system at www.pdcet.natboard.edu.in

 Application form for DNB-PDCET January, 2017 admission session can be submitted only online

No separate DNB CET for Jan 2017 session

As per the tweet by NBE director Dr. Bipin, there will be no separate DNB CET Broad speciality for Nov-Dec 2016 session. NEET PG scores will be used for admissions.

As per the students/medicos from different areas, doctors are welcoming this move as it will decrease one separate exam and also put less economical burden for taking different exams.

The NEET PG is expected in Dec 2016 as previous years.
